Jumpman

20 min  | Director - Tom Dey

The film explores the incredible story of photographer Jacobus Co Rentmeester and the origins of the iconic Jordan Jumpman logo.

Director:  Tom Dey (“Dye”) grew up in New England and studied philosophy, religion and film at Brown University. He continued his pursuit of cinema at the Center for International Educational Exchange in Paris, followed by two years at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. After completing his MFA, Dey joined Ridley Scott Associates, where he directed commercials for eighteen years.

In 1998 Dey transitioned to feature filmmaking with SHANGHAI NOON (Jackie Chan, Owen Wilson). He followed with SHOWTIME (Robert DeNiro, Eddie Murphy), FAILURE TO LAUNCH (Matthew McConaughey, Sarah Jessica Parker), MARMADUKE (Owen Wilson, Emma Stone), and WEDDING SEASON (Suraj Sharma, Pallavi Sharda).

Dey splits his time between Los Angeles and New York with his wife, photographer Coliena Rentmeester, and their two children. He’s currently working on a feature documentary called A Better Chance, the story of a radical educational initiative started in the 1960s that changed the face of higher education.

JUMPMAN is his first documentary and Co Rentmeester is his father-in-law.
